Torquay is a seaside town in Devon. It’s known for its palm trees, busy harbour and marina so the Riviera area is almost like being in the Mediterranean! This makes for enjoyable long walks along the pier or promenade or taking in the amazing sea views across the bay when you walk up the steps of Royal Terrace Gardens. Torquay boasts a year-round programme of shows in the Princess Theatre and there are always loads of events and festivals going on all year around. Major sailing events can be viewed from waterfront restaurants, of which there are many top-class ones. You can meet seals, penguins and otters at Living Coasts, take a boat trip around the bay, or discover Torre Abbey’s 800 years of history told through talking statues and animated dinner plates!
The more active sorts can enjoy bubble soccer, paintball, go karting, clay shooting, quad biking, white water rafting, rage buggies, golf, an adventure centre or treasure hunt. Or why not take a trip to the races (dogs or horses) or on a party bus or boat?! There is also plenty to keep you occupied in the evenings, including casino trips and comedy clubs. And then, of course, take your pick of all the great pubs, cocktail venues and clubs that Torquay has to offer and make the most of the night!
